CHAPTER TWELVE

The sound of fists connecting with a punching bag resonates through the gym as I walk through the door to find my father in the one place I knew he’d be, doing the same thing he, I, and my brother always do when we can’t enclose our lack of control.

We have to beat the shit out of someone, something or have it conflicted. Tonight I needed both.

By the looks of it, so does he.

Holding that shit in is not an easy task when you feel like you’ve been hit with the claw end of a hammer straight into the side of your temple—bringing on this sweltering infuriation to kill.

To maim.

Making you a loose cannon.

A ticking time bomb set to go off at any time.

There are times, such as this fucked up revelation, when killing can’t confine it. Even though I wish Jason hadn’t died by my hands simply so I could do it all over again. Since I’ve already annihilated my office while waiting for Isaac to email whatever information he could find on Cristiano Dias and I can’t fuck it out of me with the woman I want because I’d hurt Jolie if she were to come to me now, throwing my fists around is the only way to force those walls to lock back into place. To quiet my mind when I can hear my twisted cousin whispering in my ear that he is out to destroy me.

To ruin our reputation.

To continue to do some maiming himself.

To take my family and me down a guilt trip on the highway to hell. That knowledge crucifies me more than anything. The roadmap of his father’s emotional scars on my mother will rise and split her wide open.

That raping motherfucker left her in jagged, broken pieces, and it’s a story no one wants to retell, no one wants to hear, and no one wants to think about.

He defiled my mother. He stole her virginity after he drugged her. She was so messed up after what he’d done to her, she stayed in London years longer than planned.

When she came back, she and dad fell in love. Royal was obsessed with taking her away from him that when he couldn’t get to her, he went on a streak of mayhem.

A one-person war against The Empire and The Solokov Organization.

Out to destroy his own blood.

An uprising.

Royal killed one of our uncles. Did all kinds of damage to Diesel’s mother by kidnapping and cutting her. Then the prick finally found a way to get to mom. Once he had her in his grasp, he tried to kill her.

You name the nightmare, Royal Diamond did it.

He was a stain on the family name.

A goddamn parasite.

My father healed her. I pray to a God I’ll never meet that he can do it again.

That they can heal each other.

After discovering Cristiano is indeed the devil’s spawn, Diesel cancelled the illegal fights scheduled in a few weeks at our underground club. That’s pissed a lot of people off.
